Barbera is Italy’s second most planted red wine grape variety – behind only Sangiovese. Barbera has been grown in Mudgee for 30 years Di Lusso Estate has a small vineyard block of Barbera on the property and the 2002 vintage was the first release.

Our fourth release of this northern Italian gem is a youthful fresh intense ruby red in colour. The aroma is typical sour cherry, with hints of raspberry and richer plums. There is underlying earthiness and well integrated cedary oak. On release this wine is clean and fresh, with good acid backbone and fine but good tannin length and elegant balance. With bottle age it will develop more complex secondary characters of cigar box, dried herbs and aniseed.

A terrific, versatile wine to be enjoyed with all meats and vegetables (particularly richer flavoured ones)
