The muscat grape is renowned for its versatility, being capable of producing a vast array of wine styles around the world – most of them sweet. We have chosen a style that is popular in the northern regions of Italy; one that produces a light, semi-sweet, beautifully aromatic, gently frizzante wine.
The 2011 Moscato is styled on Moscato d'Asti, the famous DOCG wine from north west Italy which is produced mainly around the Piedmontese towns of Asti and Alessandria (and made from the sweet white muscat wine grape, which is also used for its higher alcohol, bubbly cousin Asti Spumanti).We used a black muscat grape (hence the pinkish blush), sourced in Mudgee. |
